I loved the practicality of my AE86 and a shooting break would be even better, so in that theme, and following from the hotrdod's are dead thread:

(what's the difference between a shooting brake and a two door station wagon?)

    more on topic

shouldn't the extra cargo space be over the frunk? if it had enough glass you could still see if you weren't carrying anything opaque.

its for when you want to go shooting grouse with the other chaps and dont fancy carrying your own guns and it's 1906 so there are no wagons so you head off to your village coach builder and get him to chuck a bit more body on the back of your car and then throw your shottys, grouse, whisky and picnic basket in the back

Shooting Brakes are sexy time. Some of the above are station wagons.

    My favourite.

shooting brakes have 2 doors and a rear hatch/door (and usually start life as a sedan or coupe) station wagons have more doors and most of the time are a model variant

Shooting brake Boxster won't be that practical with an engine in the middle of the cargo area.

the engine is pretty low down, i'm sure you could make it a removable 1 piece like those Boxster/Cayman conversions

I like this look of this for a fake internet rendering, bringing bits of the cayenne/sportwagon to the Cayman

    I could make it work....

Just need a firewall on top of the engine, sit your crap on top, unless its stuff that doesnt like getting hot

the 'hard work' is already done. the firewall is an engine cover that's already there.
these cayman roofs replace the rear bootlid and folding roof on a boxster

so you'd just make something attached to the same mounting points and then design the roof shape around that

I did that on my computer with the no-pics (she's a gun on illustrator/photoshop).
It's not really about practicality, more a design exercise, promo car. The engine lid can stay, the boot lid comes off and a glass hatch will fit on. Im thinking of using a hardtop roof as the front section and extending from that.
