    DPF cleaner in Sydney?

The tow wagonís DPF has chosen to throw its toys out of the cot one day before we go away on holidays. I canít get into Subaru to get them to do a forced regen on it. Car goes fine in limp mode, we have towed the track car back from Wakefield like this.

Iím thinking of cleaning out the DPF as a precaution, but canít find a retailer that sells the cleaner. Wynnís make something that you soak the core in, Wurth make a product that you spray in through a sensor hole, but they donít sell to non trade customers.

Does anyone know a retailer in Sydney that sells these types of products? The usual suspects only sell the fuel additive type.

    Cheers.

Thanks S. I called Imparts, they seem pretty good, but their product needs to be shipped in, won't leave me enough time to pull it out and give it a soak.

I see that they clean truck DPFs with a Gurney. The Subi DPF has a 90 degree inlet, not sure if I can get the nozzle onto it.

Thanks DM, it was about $400 when I checked about a year ago. The DPF is definately coming out for a proper clean after Christmas, at this point I'm undecided if I take it to Western, try one of the soaking chemical cleaners, or have a go at it with the Gurney.

If you regen the filter when you're supposed to you don't have to take it off and clean it.

Yeah, that's the theory. I've owned this thing since new, now 138k on the clock, unfortunately I've developed way more knowledge on this subject than I ever wanted to. Don't get me started....

Imparts are moving away from LM as they're no longer a distributor.

I've been wondering if the DPF cleaner additive you dump in the tank actually works, I've only done it once for my thing but it doesn't seem to have any issues doing regens. Although the dealer did a forced regen yesterday as part of the service apparently, so the service manager told me.

Get a decent scan tool, and measure the soot and ash content yourself.

The soot isn't a big deal, as that's taken care of in the re-gen, but the ash loading is what fucks them longterm. That has to be broken down chemically, and flushed out.

Forced regen is not meant to be part of the service but you are meant to check the DPF level if itís avaliable in the computer. Some cars can take 30-40 mins of driving to force a regen so if the filter is getting high then you up sell the regen. Some cars can regen in the workshop I assume thatís why canberra Toyotaís new workshop has extractors on every bay.

The extractors in each bay is best practice not related to DPF. Canberra Star had them in 2000, not that we ever used them

I squirted the Wurth cleaner in through the pressure sensor tube on the turbo side of the DPF first thing this morning, left it for an hour, then 3.5 hours highway driving. Car went fine in limp mode, good fuel economy. But my cheapie scanner wonít clear the P1469 fault code.

I found a wifi OBD2 sender in the glove box. Is there an app that will clear proprietary Subaru codes?

I misread this as DTF cleaner. Thought you were looking for a chick to dress up in a french maid costume and service you.

Mate of mine at St Peters / Alexandria does Forced burns on DPFs pretty cheap if you can get the vehicle to his workshop. Otherwise he does call outs - but you pay a premium for him to come to you naturally....
