Price check: LS1 engine and box

It looks like I may have found a car. As I won't need the running gear, what are ls1 engine/ auto box/ ecu combos selling for?

Would any one on here be interested?

You might get more. Wreckers are selling them for around $1400 with 3 months warranty

Pretty much $1.50 thesedays H. They are so common and plenty getting written off as the cars they come in are so cheap...

    Ok too easy thank you.
I have found an auto Monaro. If I can negotiate the deal il be selling the running gear. I may even throw it back into the rx8 and sell it as a running car.

Yeah prices pretty fucked if trying to sell ls1 gear now that they're all high mileage items & aftermarket parts more geared towards larger engines.

I want to do opposite put cheap ls driveline into vp ute middle of next year but I'm in Shitney...
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

I am in the market for exactly that combo for my Crown ute but in no great rush. Have cash waiting and can work with your timeline. Am in Melbs though.

Yeah not worth a lot unfortunately. I was offered a mint donor ls1 statesman for $700 last week. It's hardly worth fitting an ls1 anymore when you can get an ls2 for a couple of hundred more

Ls1 are good for vb-vs commo's in NSW 'assuming' we can still get them passed without engineers.

Nope, non factory driveline equals engineering

10% capacity, but also 10% power ... the most gutless factory LS1 out-powers everything in a pre-LS Holden by well over 10%. So it all needs engineering.

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Whether still valid or not fuck knows but also came down interpretation when getting signed off....

Says 20% on RMS site VSI No.6 Light vehicles modifications pge.3

    Example not requiring certification:
•Replacement of a 2.0 litre engine with an
engine of 2.4 litres capacity or less and
    from the same vehicle series.

Fucker wont allow link or copy/paste properly.

The important bit. Means bolts to original engine mounts, same engine series ie red motor. Fuck, I'd love you to be right as I could just get a blue slip for my Ls3 Camaro....but I can't.

Whilst i think it would be fun. i was going to suggest something a bit more wife friendly. Fatboy has mentioned about building a new house, so i was going to suggest a ute or wagon, for those trips to bunnings, bonus to the wagon is wife + kid and the kid he doesnt know about yet can fit

Best get in before that bub happens mate.

If it's a streeter it's more than likely going to be LS powered. Barra is an awesome engine but the sound reminds me of a giant wet fart. Pass...
