    Sierra Cosworth

Thought I'd start a thread on my Sierra having owned if for a while now having bought it two years ago from Uncle Henry off here. He's a champ BTW who even delivered some boxes of parts he found after the I'd picked the car up.

I've done precisely nothing to it other than change all of the fluids, filters and clutch cables and give it a wash every now and then. It hasn't missed a beat other than snapping a ~12 month old clutch cable leaving me stranded for a while.

Over the last few months I've been accumulating parts to finally do the hydraulic clutch conversion and plan to rip into it this weekend. Hopefully it won't be too challenging for this office worker who hasn't removed a gearbox from a car in 10 years.....

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

What's it like to drive? I've always imagined they would feel similar to a DR30, although maybe the Sierra would feel slightly more sporty than muscley in comparison with the Skyline

Pretty good in an 80s kind of way.

Itís got not a lot below 3k but once it gets on boost it sounds like a jet and takes off, I suppose 1.9 bar does that.

The brakes are awesome, ride is harsh but handles pretty well. The worst thing about it is the extremely heavy clutch pedal, hence the broken cables and the plan to convert to hydraulic.

Put it on the hoist to start the clutch change tonight and noticed some weeps of coolant on the radiator. Out that comes too then.

Also thanks for the compliments. I can't take any credit for the way the car presents but I do enjoy owning it.

Is $1000 for an alloy radiator a good deal these days? Unsure of the brand just yet but designed for this car.

Probably is if they're an oddball size/shape and you can't get a generic Jap car radiator to fit. If you could, you'd save a lot of money.

Here's a pic. It looks pretty standard except for the mounting points. I'll measure mine up tonight.

Got it to the point of pulling the gearbox in about an hour today. Was foiled by not being able to find my circlip pliers to pull the speedo cable out.

Itís a lot easier to work on than my old STi!

Hereís the hydraulic conversion kit. They were supposed to send instructions because there is a modification required to the gearbox to get the alignment right. No instructions came. This should be easy

I haven't had it on a dyno but the previous owner said about 400hp. The arse-o-meter indicates that's about right.

I'll need to get a new dump pipe made as the current one goes through where the clutch master cylinder will be so I'll get it retuned as well.
