    Toby, take 2, 2018

Everyone asleep? Starts again tonight again our time.

You'd wonder how good the leg is for a repeat though.

    https://www.facebook.com/tprice87/

Must be the smallest field of Aussies running for a long time, only 3 on bikes.

This bloke will probably end up a water carrier, just including because of the jump - first few days in the dunes should suit his 4wd.

I know someone who’s over there shooting stuff for sponsors in the bouviac but still complaining he’s not out on the road. Cunt.
Sutherland Shires #1 Escort? is that like being the 4th best prostitute in Kazahkstan?

    LOL.
Shows how little ive been paying attention. I thought “Why are they talking about South America?”

Then had to look up to realise that its been in South America for the last ten years.
    That’s disappointing.

Will be watching with interest as always.... the changing fortunes on a daily basis always make it a good watch. Be interesting to see how TP fitness holds up. He has mega pace which might make up for any fitness shortfall. Menzies will be interesting to watch. No doubt a lot to learn although Baja 1000 wouldn't be bad prep. But repeating it each day will hurt. He would prob be more at home in a poo joe. Love might be on song this year after learning a more about the event. Bring it on.

Short stage but it never fails to deliver drama. Tough start for Loeb but lucky the stage was so short. Hadn't realised the rules had been relaxed to help 4wd. More travel and less weight ?

Cracking pace by Sunderland but will be opening the road tomorrow on a proper length stage. Steady start for TP. And what do we think of Sanz. A fast chick on a bike. Surely that = hot ? Such an impressive rider.

Yup Menzies, 6kms or something into the special. Yazeed and Boris in two more mins also stopped after WP1

    Dakar Press Team:

We have found out what happened to Yazeed Al-Rajhi. The Saudi driver hit Boris Garafulic's Mini. Now, the two crews are waiting for assistance to repair their vehicles and waving goodbye to their overall prospects in this year's Dakar.

Toby moves into top 10 overall, 9 minutes behind Bort P1.....Honda, will likely self-implode as usual by week's end, if the story plays out as usual.

3km into stage one and probably a couple of hundred grand spent and then you're out, probably playing up for the chopper and missing a caution in the road book, despite the give away crowd -

Reminds me of that big dune jump on the bike in Africa, heading to oblivion and having multi seconds to contemplate your fate.

The ditch that claimed Bryce is probably 3 or 400 meters from where it stopped, must have been a nice end over end roll to get there! Nightmare having suspension cope with near 400 litres of fuel from empty to full I'd expect.

^^^^ Wow. Decent whoopsie. She no trophy truck. Imagine hits like that wouldn't even unsettle one. Would probably be a little challenge to re calibrate to the reduced capability of the Dakar car.

He was saying in an interview yesterday that he wasn't really listening to his co driver... Dakar ain't no Baja race where you can wing the road map.

Also these 2wd machines from the Euros (pugs over the past couple of yearsr) like to buck the back a bit unlike the the TTs.

Befriend a Frenchy and get updates,

Nani Roma rolled his Mini and sustained head and neck trauma. Somehow made it to stage end but that’s the end of the rally for him. Hope he’s ok

Cracking ride by Toby, came out quick, lost some time around wp5 but finished 3rd in stage and now 4th overall.

Sounds like a great ride from Toby on stage 3. His instagram account says he layed it over around the 140km mark and lost a heap of fluids (i assume fuel) and filled his road book with sand in the process.

It looks like Nani Roma passed out right before the roll over, according to his wife: right before the crash they had a hard impact on a step down that wasn't on the roadbook making Nani to pass out, his codriver realizing that Nani was out pulled the handbrake trying to reduce the speed causing the car to roll over... He is currently at Lima Hospital with general pain but safe, it looks like they are waiting to see if the officials give him green flag to start tomorrow.

Yeah. 4th stage kiss of death for the defending champion again. Compressed his spine. Decided to ride on for 5km. Lost feeling in legs. Decided he better stop. Fkn hard men!! Seems feeling is back and he will be ok. It's a tight field. No massive gaps opening up. TP looking alright in 6th 10 mins off the pace with good road position for stage 5 and plans to have a crack.

Poo Joes are dominating in the cars. Dupres out. Loeb, Peterhansel battle should be epic. Loeb will be keen to chalk up a win in poo joes last year.

Durpes rear suspension didn't like a rock, interesting to watch these 2wd pugs on the beach as can see the rear bucking.
