    Prado 2.7 3rz

    I'm looking at a Prado with the 2.7 3rz.

I'm just upgrading from a old T30 Xtrail for something a tad bigger.
Anyone have any experience with the 3rz in a Prado?

V6 has actual power so you drive it like that. 3rz just needs to be flogged to go anywhere, expect it to do 13-15L/100.

Worse if any mods like bigger tyres, bull bar, roof rack etc

The 2.7s don't have the factory flared guards either.

Something to consider when you start putting bigger rubber on.

My experience showed they guzzled more than the 6 and much slower. Itís a real poor choice of engine for the car. Get the 6 if you can.

If it's the 2004 or so model (??) They are slow as... Really slow.

If you live in the country, not too bad other than you can't really pull out of intersections where you can't see a long way up the road... In the city in an area with high speed roads (70+) it's dangerous as you can't actually get it to accelerate fast enough to get out of anyone's way... Apparently the 3L is much much better...

They are prone to a head valve problem.
This shows up as like a misfire.

    The valves get burnt

Yeah it was the 120 series prado. Got sold so that must be a sign I wasn't meant to get it.

I knew they'd be a bit of a slug, but wouldn't have thought it would be too bad, considering the number of hiluxes running around loaded up and towing trailers and crap

They are pretty bad. The 3.4 6 is a much better choice and actually cheaper on fuel also as it doesnít have to work as hard.
