If they did a blitz on headlights and taillights out, they wouldn't be able to be keep up. Passed one guy on the M5 this morning that mistook his foglight switch for the headlights, driving along with no taillights cutting into gaps that didn't exist without everyone else braking hard to accommodate.
On the point of dash gauges from above, being young and dumb, we challenged a cop to defect the girl parked next to us after being done for a low mounted A pillar gauge (cop excuse: even secured items can come loose in an accident and take you out), her whole dash was covered in large hard and soft maccas toys just jammed between the dashboard and windscreen, blocking the demister vents, covering the first 5 inches of vision etc, outcome, nothing wrong with them... They have their intended targets.

"Fog lights during daytime blind on-coming drivers" Now every new car has daytime running lights.
Yea i think about that as well..

Gauges fixed securely to dash = dangerous

$10 suction mount for tablet hanging off windshield and obscuring vision = no worries mate!

The irony of all of the crap over their dash and windows wasnít lost at the time either.

I guess the super special driver training means they donít get hurt in a crash

My issue with the HWP is the total lack of professionalism, there is always a jibe or a few comments made purely to get a response.
If we have done the wrong thing that's fine just be professional about it and do your job. I dont think there is another role out there where you can intimidate/harass/bully/abuse people on a daily basis and get away with it.

I dont buy the 'we have to deal with horrible accidents, work odd hours and tell people bad news so we are allowed to be tossers' line either; Your not the only people who deal with it (if its affecting you so much perhaps you shouldn't be doing the job), yet they are the only lot who use it as a justification and further, you did actively decide to pursue the job and were told full well what it would involve.

The hypocrisy is mind boggling when they do 60 over the limit to catch you doing 10 and rip into you about how bad speeding is and its never safe.

Yep that and I believe Romania fired its entire traffic division (for corruption) and the result was a decrease in traffic accidents, so it looks like any bullshit about saving lives is just hot air

unfortunately HWP generally attracts power hungry, small men symdrome little hilters. If you ask most non HWP cops even they think they are a special breed and want nothing to do with them.

I agree with your comment about them saying something often just to get a rise. "you didnt pass the attitude test" yeh no shit, i didnt lay down and let HWP cowboy Joe wind me and not respond.

Just be professional and conduct yourself in a empathetic manor, that's all I want to see.

I don't get why they need to be arrogant pricks.

You can see through someone's bullshit, without being a condescending jerk.

Fuck that, the limp dick pricks know full well they're barely above parking inspectors in the chain of human shitcunts. If their job sucks that much they should go do something else. Had one of these fuckheads parked on the most congested road merge in SEQ this afternoon, so of course traffic was twice as fucked as usual because every cunt was too busy watching the HWP car on the side of the road.

Been pulled over by traffic cops several times and never had any issues. In saying that the only time I've been pulled over for something other than RBT was for blinding a cop at night, failing to dip my lights. Cop had a look at the lights, checked to make sure they were switched properly and made a joke that he was jealous and let me go.
I've gotten away with stuff heaps of times, even with cops around.
My BIL is a highway cop, nice guy but he does admit some of his fellow traffic cops are cunts. Understandable when you spend your entire shift praying you don't get a call for a fatal. Or worse still, have to do the door knock, to inform family of a fatality.

After you get your ticket, fine or whatever bollocks they come up with politely say " Geez, what are you guys going to do in five years time when autonomous cars take over?"

It's not targeting specific cars when they block the whole road and pull every single one in for RBT. That's called targeting a swede'd out area. Botany must be just that and part of the red-zone. Avoid.

They do this on the Bruce Highway, often at times when there is plenty of traffic turning the fucking thing in to a car park for hours on end. Never mind doing some actual police work, lets chuck a wide net and hope for the best. Funny you hear when they make a chance find (like 2 blokes with a bag of pills and stuff last year) but typically they pull over shitloads of people and make a few DUI's etc.

In the last 10 years here of driving my datsun like a dick, I've been pulled over 21 times, and never once issued a ticket that stuck when I showed up for court. In my locality if the cop who pulled you over does not show up to the court date, then it essentially never happened. On the rare occasion the officer did show up, they just expected the judge to give them a pass and behaved like entitled jerks, and that never went over well with the judge. Also had different officers show up to try and "cover" for their buddies, that went over like a lead balloon as soon as I pointed out that the officer in the courtroom was not the officer who wrote the ticket and was not present when it was written...oooooh boy that was a good one.

My younger brother, on the other hand, has had 11 tickets that stuck, two of which were written by officers who were out of their jurisdiction and who wrote them for their own home area, not for the area he got stopped in. Only one of them was a legit ticket, all the rest were from being polite and allowing the officer to inspect his car, which has resulted in...9 tickets he paid, and five nights in jail for having a car seat in the cargo area of his subaru, instead of strapped in.

Get pulled over every time I drive this down to Vic for Winton.

Usually just get a warning as I'm usually around 9-10kmh over limit on cruise control. ZF auto in 6th. Air Con ON. Lazy 900Nm listening to Mariah Carey on the Sub Woofer....

I'm always polite to police. Respectful. I'm nearly 50yo with kids booster seats in back, so maybe this helps.

Usually explain I'm going to a trackday and they usually relax and actually seem interested. No tickets yet. Just warnings.

Have more problems with dickheads in modded cars on the M7 wanting to Roll Race.

It must be the Mariah Carey thatís getting you pulled over driving an ex-taxi!
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
