    Bikes I rarely get to ride

    As my cars don't fit in the garage at home I have been spending more time with bikes over the past few years.

    2005 SV 650
    Had this for nearly 4 years, it has been a faithful commuter, weekend warrior and camping bike.

    Larger diameter throttle tube
    Some horrible levers I should change
    A few cosmetic bits and a bit of black paint then slapped it back together

    I got given this 2002 WR400 in 10,000 pieces that I rebuild and don't use. Great fun for an old girl, I find it a handful in the scrub, reasonably light but the power delivery keeps me on my toes.

    At Christmas time this 2009 Hypermotard 1100 came up at a price I couldn't refuse so I drove to Launceston and picked it up. I had wanted one since they came out.

    Am enjoying the few brief rides I have been able to take it on. I haven't taken any decent photos as have been riding any spare time I have. Now when I take the 650 out I wonder why it feels so slow. This isn't a powerhouse but it certainly is fun.

    It came with a couple of carbon bits and a nice seat, other than that it is bone stock. I still can't get used to how noisy these engines are... not just the clutch. Every time I ride it I think these is a new sound I am hearing.

    That's aircooled motors for you. The water cooling jacket really kills a bunch of the mechanical violence that you get from aircooled motors.

    Cheers, not much to say as itís mostly stock, 19500 km. Have been trawling the web for a second hand termi slip on but will probably have to buy new when I have spare cash. It came with all the original bits for anything changed, seat and hand guards etc.

    I just need to set up the suspension and try not to go down the modification path too deep...

    Yeah I grew up on old air cooled farm bikes but it has been a long time! Just need to get used to it!

    Me too! The wife was asking me when Iím selling the SV now I have another bike, but I canít bring myself to do it, it still has its place. Which unfortunately at the moment is 95% commuting.

    Will get them on this week.

    I also picked up a second hand MIVV decat header setup and will put on when funds allow for a no-valve link pipe, intake mods and a flash tune.

    Next I will probably put the original handguards/mirrors on and remove the additional screen.

    Temis look sweet. Interested to see what you think of the original mirrors, I thought the originals look good but not very functional.

    Termis look good, without the baffles they are LOUD! I feel for the people I filtered past with their windows open on Friday.

    I put the baffles back for now as Iím not sure what the previous owner has done to the intake and cat and I thought it was showing some lean running behaviour. Iíll buy the cables and load a racing (Ducati Performance) ecu map on which will get rid of the closed loop tuning and the exhaust valve and Iíll put the full system on sans baffles.

    I can see the original mirrors being impractical, Iím willing to give them a shot as they contribute to the look that drew me in to the bike originally.
